Born in Hong Kong, where he is already an established playwright, Simon has been living and writing in London for more than ten years. Many of his plays have been performed in London: Wolf in the House was showcased at the Soho Theatre; The Pilgrimage of the Heart had a three week run in 2008 at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden and The Two of Us, was featured at the Typhoon Festival 2009 produced by the Yellow Earth Theatre Company at the Greenwich Theatre.

His play, Oikos, was performed for three weeks from 26 August 2010 at the Jellyfish Theatre. This play was commissioned by the Red Room Theatre Company and was published by Oberon Books.

Simon’s co-written radio plays have been broadcast on the BBC World Service, Looking for Stones (1999), Bare Branches (2008) and Demolition Man (2009). His short film, Merry-Go-Round, was funded by Enfield Film Fund and was nominated for Best Local Film in the Wood Green Independent Short Film Festival in 2008 and screened at BFI in 2009.

He has translated Roy William’s There’s Only One Wayne Lee from English to Chinese for
the Lumenis Theatre for performance at the Beijing International Fringe Festival on 16-18
September 2011.

He was given a Peggy Ramsay grant for his writing in 2007.


Simon’s play, Yam Sing, is going on tour in the UK with the Yellow Earth Theatre Company this coming autumn.

 
 
Corax Productions was set up to produce plays, films and television programmes in London and Hong Kong written by Simon Wu and directed by Shan Ng.Its other objective is to increase multi-cultural collaboration between East Asian artists and artists from other cultural backgrounds.   The company’s previous productions include: The Pilgrimage of the Heart and Merry Go Round.
